Poroshenko risks arrest to return

Ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has returned to Kyiv from Poland, despite the risk of arrest, vowing to protect his country from possible Russian invasion.

Poroshenko, president from 2014 to 2019, is a staunch critic of President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he accuses of failing to do enough to prevent Russian aggression.

Poroshenko appeared before a court in Kyiv to decide whether he should be kept in pre-trial detention.
