Veteran toaster

SIR – The Morphy Richards toaster from 1949 (Leading Article, January 15) had a strong claim to being the oldest toaster in continuous service – but I have an even older example.

This charming Art Deco model, made by the Gramophone Company of Hayes, Middlesex, dates from around 1930. It has twin elements, and is still very effective as long as one keeps a careful eye on each side. Colin Warrington Yardley Hastings,
