Planning link to 2004 murder of Scots banker
Police believe a planning row over pub decking may be “significant” in explaining the mysterious assassination of a bank manager in the Scottish Highlands more than 17 years ago.
Detectives investigating the murder of Alistair Wilson said he had objected to a retrospective planning application made by the Havelock Hotel in Nairn, opposite the home where he was shot dead on the doorstep in November 2004. They now believe the dispute over the seating area, which Mr Wilson blamed for noise and litter, could be key to solving the mystery. It is the latest in a series of recent developments in the case, including detectives travelling to Canada to interview a witness.
