London council flushes out gender-neutral loos
Women’s public lavatories are being reinstated after a council received complaints of “harassment”.
Earlier this month, women in the London borough of Camden reported that they felt unsafe when the council allowed men to use their facilities near Camden Town underground station.
The public lavatories had effectively been made gender-neutral because the council could not afford to repair the male facilities.
Susan Williams told the Camden New Journal the women-only facilities were “smelly ... and intimidating” while being used by men.
The newspaper has now said the council has U-turned on the matter.
