Teenager found dead was due to meet police

Gaia Pope, 19, was due to meet police over indecent images sent to her on social media on the day she vanished, an inquest has heard.

The teenager went missing in November 2017, prompting a widespread police search in Swanage, Dorset. Her body was found 11 days later on a nearby cliff top. A postmortem examination found she died from hypothermia.

On the day she went missing, the inquest heard that she was behaving “irrationally” as she was waiting to give a formal statement to officers about the unwanted photos.

The inquest, which is due to last for 11 weeks, continues today.
