- Sir Crispin Tickell

A memorial service for Sir Crispin Tickell was held yesterday at St Martin-in-thefields, Trafalgar Square, London WC2.

The Rev Richard Carter, Associate Vicar, officiated, and read the lesson. Dame Clare Tickell (niece) read Hinterhof by

Prof James Fenton, Dr Sofía Castelló y Tickell (granddaugh­ter) read Romance by W.J. Turner and Ms Lucy Engelhart read I, the fiery life of divine wisdom, by Hildegard of Bingen.

Baroness Whitaker paid tribute to Sir Crispin.

The Rev Tim Hastie-smith gave an address and led prayers. Among others present were:
