MP leaves weeks after sex offence conviction
Former Tory MP Imran Ahmad Khan is expected to cease being an MP three weeks after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy, after a delay in his resignation.
The Treasury is understood to have received his resignation letter and he is expected to leave on Tuesday, getting full pay for April. Khan said he sent the letter on Monday, despite announcing his resignation on April 14.
He said he expects the process to end on Saturday, but it was understood it would happen the next working day, as Monday is a bank holiday.
The Wakefield MP was found guilty of sexually assaulting the child at Southwark Crown Court on April 11.
