An unhappy ending even Hollywood couldn’t make up

-

It’s not just comedy that’s about good timing. Tragedy is, too. When Hollywood star Olivia Wilde was served with child custody papers while on stage, it felt only marginally less brutal than Will Smith slapping Chris Rock.

Sources close to her ex, fellow actor Jason Sudeikis, claim he had no idea that the papers pertaining to their two children would be handed over as she addressed

4,000 industry executives about Don’t Worry Darling, the thriller she has directed.

My first thought was the custody papers were from her boyfriend Harry Styles’s mum. He has a thing about older women. And they obviously have a thing about him.

But the former boy band member turned serious musocum-actor-cumnon-binaryfrock-wearingstyle-icon is now 28. Wilde is 38,

so nothing to see here. Wilde met Styles on the set of her new film, in which he stars, and their romance led to her break-up with Sudeikis. So was the dramatic serving of legal documents poetic justice? I think not.

Parents wrangling over their children is never pretty and being in the public eye adds more anguish. Hardly the stuff that Hollywood happy-everafters are

made of.
