The Finals of the Portland Bowl, the knockout teams event for universities, have taken place at the Portland Club in London, which sponsors the event, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspondent.

In one semi-final, Oxford A beat Oxford B by 95 IMPS (190-95), and Warwick A had conceded the other semi-final to Cambridge B prior to the weekend. In the final, Oxford A beat Cambridge B by 25 IMPS (126-101), and thus retained the Portland Bowl.

The Oxford A line-up was Lawrence Wang, Yining Yang, Ewa Wieczorek and Sam Anoyrkatis, the same playing members who won last year, and with the addition of non-playing captain Charlie Bucknell. The Cambridge B team was Kripa Panchagnula, Daniel Winter, Charles Gong, Nicholas Lee, Jack Lawrence, Oscar Selby and NPC Lucia Arce.
