American Boehly to win battle for Chelsea
Todd Boehly has won the race to buy Chelsea in a world record deal worth over £3.5billion, despite a dramatic late hijack attempt from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Britain’s richest man. Sources said that the American businessman has been confirmed as the club’s preferred buyer, although there has not been an official announcement from the Boehly group, Chelsea or Raine, the bank in charge of the sale. Sir Jim yesterday tabled an 11th-hour offer worth up to £4.25 billion. Sport, page 1
