Cinderella cast protest as show is cancelled
West End actors in Cinderella have demanded compensation from Andrew Lloyd Webber as they protested at a theatre over its closure.
It was announced on Sunday that, despite rave reviews, the show will end on June 12 after less than a year playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre.
Some cast members claimed they read the news on social media or news sites before being told themselves.
Equity, a performing arts union, called for compensation for current and future Cinderella cast members. The group demonstrated outside the Gillian Lynne Theatre yesterday.
Mr Lloyd-webber’s Really Useful Group was contacted for comment.
