SNP MP had ‘no idea’ about unpaid funds
A former SNP MP has said she had “no idea” thousands of pounds sent to her to pay for a campaign group’s media training was not paid properly.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Natalie Mcgarry received £2,000 from the SNP’S Glasgow Regional Association (GRA), to pay for media training.
Ms Mcgarry, a former Glasgow East MP, is accused of embezzling £21,000 from 2013 to 2015, while treasurer of Women for Independence. A second charge alleges she took £4,662 from 2014 to 2015 as treasurer, secretary and convenor of the GRA. She denies both charges. The trial continues.
