Cars kill 10 deer in last month, say Yorks police

-

At least 10 deer have been killed by cars in North Yorkshire in the past month, police have said, with incidents on the rise.

Officers said collisions were more common in the spring as young buck roe deer moved to new territories.

North Yorkshire Police asked drivers to look out for the animals crossing the roads and to take care in forested areas.

A spokesman for the force said in every incident in Harrogate, Ryedale, Selby, Hambleton and York, “the deer have suffered non-survivable injuries”.

The force issued a similar warning in March after the deaths of four deer.
