Hiding behind Covid
SIR – We’re past the point where public servants should have stopped hiding behind Covid and gone back to work.
It seems impossible to obtain a passport (Letters, May 6) or driving licence, and in the past week a family member was denied a face-to-face-appointment with a doctor. Had their condition been diagnosed and treated in a timely manner, it would have cleared up quickly.
It is too much. The rest of the country went back to work a long time ago, while many of those drawing their pay from the public purse still need to start earning it. Those whose taxes fund them deserve better.

SIR – I am tired of large organisations and government departments saying they are extremely busy and apologising for any delay caused by staff working from home. If by working from home staff cannot perform their work properly, they should be ordered to return to their workplace or have their pay reduced.
