Schools score higher ratings than academies

-

Schools that do not become academies are more likely to achieve higher ratings from Ofsted, research suggests.

The Local Government Association (LGA) found that 92 per cent of local authority schools had been rated “good” or “outstanding” by Ofsted since Jan 31, compared with 85 per cent of academy schools that were graded since they converted.

The LGA said it was “good” that the schools White Paper stated councils would be able to set up their own multi-academy trusts (MAT).

The Government said it wants all schools to have joined a MAT by 2030.
