DEBORAH JAMES, host of the awardwinning podcast You, Me And The Big C, said she felt “utterly loved” after raising more than £1.5million for cancer charities less than a day after revealing she was receiving palliative care.

Ms James, 40, started fundraising on Monday when she announced that she was having end-of-life care at home for stage-four bowel cancer.

She hoped to raise £250,000, but pledges on her Justgiving page surged past £1.5million yesterday.

Last night, in a final episode of the BBC podcast she spoke with a producer about entering end-of-life care after being told that her “body does not want to play ball” with treatment. Ms James, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2015, said it was “still shocking” after years of treatment to know she was going to die.

She added: “I cannot thank people enough for their generosity, because it means so much to me: it makes me feel utterly loved, it makes me feel like we are all in it at the end together.”
