Platinum Puddings are no trifling matter

-

SIR – I hope an enterprising manufacturer will rush to produce Jemma Melvin’s winning Platinum Pudding trifle (report, May 13) in individual pots, with a donation to Ukraine for each sale.

They would be a delightful addition to the picnics and street parties planned to celebrate Her Majesty’s Jubilee.

SIR – Michael Deacon (Features, May 12) was surprised that his son, who was too full for dull green leafy vegetables, had room for pudding.

This is because the stomach is a compartmentalised organ, some parts for vegetables, others for pudding. This is recognised by the Greek word for pudding – epidorpio – which is also the name of the part of the stomach just above the dorpio that is specifically dedicated to the accommodation of pudding. Until this section is comfortably full, a meal is not complete.
