Marvel actress jailed for sexual abuse of teenager

An actress in the Marvel blockbuster Doctor Strange has been jailed for eight years for grooming and sexually abusing a teenage girl.

Zara Phythian, 37, was convicted of the historic abuse with her martial artist husband, Victor Marke, 59, who was jailed for 14 years. The pair were arrested in 2017, when a woman alleged they had repeatedly sexually abused her from the age of 13.

At Nottingham Crown Court, Judge Mark Watson said he believed Marke was the “driving force” behind the abuse. Phythian, from Mansfield, Notts, and Marke were told they must serve at least half their sentences before being considered for parole.
