Bothy pilgrims
sir – Like Frank Brittain (Letters, May 18) I was intrigued by Bernard Heath’s obituary (May 14).
In 1966 a friend and I were retracing the route across Scotland of David Balfour in Robert Louis Stevenson’s
Kidnapped and aiming for the Ben Alder Bothy, near Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Cave.
We passed a cyclist on the way and, when we arrived, saw in the guest book that he was the secretary of the Mountain Bothy Association and lived at 7 Jim Lane, Huddersfield. We had forgotten the name – Bernard Heath – but remembered the address.
