Wimbledon stripped of ranking points

Wimbledon has been stripped of its tour ranking points as the tennis world escalated its response to the All England Club’s ban on Russian and Belarusian players. The steps taken by the governing bodies of both the men’s and women’s tours effectively reduce Wimbledon to an exhibition event. It is believed to be unlikely that the All England Club will back down, and it could even attempt to pressure the other grand slams into introducing a rival rankings system.
