Man guilty of random machete attack on Tube

A man has been convicted for attacking a random commuter with a machete on the Tube, as police released CCTV footage of his rampage.

Passengers fled through carriages when Ricky Morgan began an unprovoked attack on James Porritt, the Old Bailey heard. Mr Porritt’s hand was severely injured.

Morgan, 34, was heard to tell onlookers in the carriage on July 9 2021: “This is not a terror attack, I only want him.”

Morgan denied attempted murder on grounds of insanity but was found guilty after two days of deliberations.

He will be sentenced on July 22 after a psychiatric report is completed.
