Mr Bean’s hotel party ‘so noisy it scared pets away’

ROWAN ATKINSON has come under fire after he reportedly threw a “wild” party for his partner’s 40th birthday – causing two dogs to run away in fright.

The 67-year-old Blackadder and Mr Bean star is believed to have hosted a lavish celebration for Louise Ford at Lucknam Park Hotel in Wiltshire on Saturday. While the venue warned residents about the event in advance, the party could allegedly be heard from up to four miles away.

Residents of Corsham and Box Hill inundated the venue with complaints about the disturbance which they said “terrified” their dogs.

Terri Freeland, 66, claimed her two dogs were so panicked by the noise coming from “Mr Bean’s shindig” they went missing from home.

She added: “On Bonfire Night and New Year’s Eve you expect fireworks and loud music and take care of your dogs. On a Saturday evening in May, I can most certainly say you absolutely do not expect it.

“I’m not even a local resident – I live on Box Hill, and there is a huge valley in front of us where the hotel is.

“It completely startled me and was horrible. I just didn’t know what to do”.

Ms Freeland said she was sitting in the garden with the doors open at about 10pm when fireworks were set off, causing her 18-month-old collie, Bobby, to run away. She added: “I was wandering around in my dressing gown, pyjamas and wellie boots, but whilst I was looking for Bobby, I lost my other dog.”

Her 14-year-old black and white collie, Megan, also went missing at about 11.30pm. Both returned home in the early hours of the following morning. Ms Freeland described the whole experience as a “nightmare”.

Lucknam Park Hotel and Atkinson’s representatives have been approached for comment.
