Actor Morgan Freeman on Russia’s ban list
HOLLYWOOD actor Morgan Freeman and the late senator John Mccain have been banned from entering Russia.
They are on a list, of 963 Americans excluded from visiting, released by the Russian foreign ministry. Freeman appears to have aroused Moscow’s ire after he appeared in a video accusing Russia of interfering in the 2016 presidential election. Urging Donald Trump to investigate, Freeman said: “We have been attacked; we are at war.”
The video was produced by film director Rob Reiner on behalf of the Committee to Investigate Russia, formed in 2017. Reiner has also been banned.
Mr Mccain is one of three dead senators who appear on the Kremlin’s list.
Joe Biden was banned by the Kremlin in March. Others banned include every member of the US House of Representatives and senior members of the Biden administration including Kamala Harris and Antony Blinken.
Hillary Clinton is on the list too. Financier George Soros and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg have also been banned.
In a statement, Moscow accused those on its list of inciting Russophobia.
