The Untold

Radio 4, 11am

This edition looks at the story of Irish aid worker Sean Binder, who was arrested in Greece after he joined a volunteer group helping refugees and migrants landing on the island of Lesbos. The group, Emergency Response Centre International, was co-ordinating efforts with Greek coast guard services to prevent loss of life. But in 2018 Binder was detained with another volunteer and accused of spying, human trafficking, money laundering and fraud. No evidence has been presented and his trial has been repeatedly postponed. He talks about living under the threat of 25 years in prison.
