Growing strains

sir – I was delighted to read Jane Shilling’s article (Comment, May 23) on talking to plants.

My grandson has just completed his degree in music production at Bristol, where his main focus was exploring the sound of plants growing. When I received his video – complete with sound effects – two weeks ago, I felt as proud as Beethoven’s grandmother. Ginette Chalmers
