Plymouth boys will learn to be ‘active bystanders’

Schools in Plymouth will teach boys to become “active bystanders” in a drive to challenge misogynistic behaviour after murders in the city.

A commission was set up to tackle violence against women and girls in Plymouth in response to the murder of Bobbi-anne Mcleod by Cody Ackland in November last year and Jake Davison’s murder spree last August, in which he killed his mother and four members of the public.

Councillor Rebecca Smith, the chairman of the commission, said: “This marks the start of a journey that says ‘enough is enough’.”
