SIR – In March, my husband and I sent our completed power of attorney papers to the Office of the Public Guardian. The cheque was cashed within days but we had no acknowledgement of receipt. Should we be worried? We would like to know our documents are safe.

SIR – I recently contacted Natwest to find out why my switch from HSBC had not taken place, despite the new account being open and the necessary paperwork having been submitted.

I explained that my email inquiry had received the reply that there was no record of any paperwork. I was asked how I had submitted the forms; it was by post (one of the options).

“That will explain it,” I was told. “We are working from home and do not have access to post.” I was advised to scan and resubmit the forms by email. Words failed me.
