Stout and O-levels

sir – During school exams in the 1950s, my mother gave me a bottle of Guinness each evening with my supper to help me relax (Letters, June 3). It worked, as I passed 10 O-levels, but I doubt the austere nun who was headmistress would have approved. Sally Lowe
