Parking fines just the ticket as Kyiv returns to normal

- By Joe Barnes and Illia Novikov

AUTHORITIES in Kyiv have resumed slapping parking tickets on cars in a sign that life in the Ukrainian capital is returning to normal.

In a post on the Telegram messaging app, officials warned residents they risk fines as parking wardens are again patrolling in the city.

“In Kyiv, the number of traffic and parking violations is increasing,” the state administration said. “Improperly parked cars will be towed.”

But officials added that parking wardens would not impose fines during air raid warnings as the war rumbles on in the east of the country.

Ukraine’s border force said about 30,000 people per day were crossing back into the country after Vladimir Putin abandoned plans to capture Kyiv, its capital.
