SIR – Thirty years ago sales of alcohol were forbidden in Scotland on the Sabbath.

Intent on offering his guests a G&T before Sunday lunch, a friend drove in the morning from Edinburgh to Berwick (Letters, June 9) and back to get the key ingredient.
