Drunk driver ran over man in distancing row

-

A drunk driver who ran over a man in his van after arguing with him about social distancing in a pub has been jailed for more than 10 years.

Philip Forrest, 42, was drinking in the Three Fishes pub in Worthing on Oct 10, 2020, when a patron raised concerns over his lack of distancing. Forrest punched the 55-year-old in the face, got into his Vauxhall Combo van and drove into his victim. He later told officers that being twice the drink-drive limit was “no big deal” and that he had once driven at four-times the limit.

The carpenter, from Worthing, was jailed for 10 years and nine months at Lewes Crown Court.
