Policeman denies sexual assault at service station

-

A serving police officer will stand trial after being charged with sexual assault by touching.

Joseph Mccabe, 27, is accused of touching without consent at Scotch Corner Services, near Richmond, North Yorks, in August last year.

He wore a dark blue suit and white shirt during a brief appearance at York magistrates’ court on Thursday, where he spoke to confirm his name and enter a plea of not guilty.

Mccabe, a serving North Yorkshire Police officer, based in Harrogate, has been suspended from duty.

He denies the offence and will stand trial in October.
