Seeing red

Environmental campaigners made the Treasury their latest target following the Government’s recent approval of a new North Sea gas development. Activists from Just Stop Oil were detained by police after spraying red paint on the building in Whitehall. The protesters claimed the department has “blood on their hands”. Shell’s Jackdaw project was given the green light earlier this month. At its peak, Shell says the field could account for 6.5pc of UK gas.
