Alleged cocaine kingpin arrested in Bulgaria
An accused drug baron, one of the UK’S most wanted men, is facing extradition to the UK after his arrest in Bulgaria.
Benjamin Macann, 32, was detained on Monday at a hotel in the southern city of Plovdiv. He is wanted by police in Norfolk for allegedly conspiring to supply large quantities of cocaine in 2020. He was held in a joint operation between the National Crime Agency (NCA) and police in Bulgaria and Spain.
Macann, formerly of Dereham, Norfolk, was among 12 fugitives thought to be hiding in Spain who were targeted by a “most wanted” NCA campaign earlier this year. Macann is the fifth target on the list to be arrested since the campaign was launched in January and remains in custody pending extradition proceedings.
