Tampons scarce in US

TAMPONS are facing shortages in the United States because of supply chain problems and the Ukraine war.

Women described on social media going to stores to find empty shelves, and travelling to different states. According to Bloomberg, prices are up 10 per cent and customers say more is being charged online.

Tampon production stalled after a drop in supplies from Russia and Ukraine of fertiliser, which is used to grow cotton, experts said. One manufacturer suggested a TV advert featuring the comedienne Amy Schumer had also caused demand to increase.
