It wasn’t my dad, says holiday rape victim

- By Phoebe Southworth

A BRITISH woman has insisted her father did not rape her after he appeared in a Greek court.

The female, 33, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was attacked while on holiday in Crete.

She told police she was stopped by an unknown man last Thursday near a bar where she had been with her father, before being dragged to a deserted beach and raped.

The woman said police were allowing her rapist to “roam free” by charging her 62-year-old father with the crime, Mailonline reported.

The woman said her father was in their hotel at the time of the attack and believes DNA evidence will clear him.

She said : “I can tell you 100 per cent that he did not rape me. I live with my dad in the UK, I was on holiday with him in Greece and he’s the best dad in the world. There is no way he would do something so disgusting. I’ve told the Greek police this, but they are just ignoring me.”

The woman is said to have told police she was drunk at the time of the attack and can only remember that the man was wearing white clothes.

Police reportedly have CCTV showing the woman’s father, who was wearing white clothes, hitting then attacking her.

Her father appeared at court in Heraklion on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to rape, sexual abuse and domestic violence charges.

He was remanded in custody and is set to stand trial.
