Foster a fox (but keep it outdoors)

-

WILDLIFE experts have warned against taking sick or abandoned fox cubs into homes, but say the animals can still be helped outdoors.

Rescue centres are struggling because of the number of animals taken in as cubs, then rejected as they grow into adults. They then need professional help, causing the centres to reach full capacity.

Matt Stone, of Moonstone Rescue, said rescues could offer advice to people wanting to help foxes but they should not be taken into the home.

Mr Stone said: “Volunteer your time, if you’ve got the ability to be able to fundraise for them, please do it.

“If you’ve got the ability to help foster animals, there are rescues out there that will support you in doing this and will train you to do it.”

He added that while foxes could show an “element of tameness”, they are still wild animals that will urinate and defecate if kept inside the home.
