Excess packaging
SIR – I am 74, disabled and live on my own, so use deliveries extensively. My meals come weekly and are kept in the freezer. Each time he delivers, the driver takes back the previous week’s trays for recycling. Nothing goes to waste. This is not the case with Amazon, however – all its deliveries arrive in excessive amounts of packaging, which then has to be sorted for council recycling.
Delivery companies should be required to take back and recycle their packaging, which would reduce the amount local authorities have to dispose of. This should also apply to supermarkets.
