Wrong sort of busy
SIR – We have recently been advised that our branch of Barclays bank is closing in early September. As there are certain banking procedures that need to be done via the cashier, not the machines, I and many others use this branch regularly.
When I asked the cashier why it was closing, as it’s always busy, she told me that “it’s the wrong sort of busy”.
How many more services must we lose before it occurs to them that the very purpose of their existence is to serve the public, not to make life more convenient for themselves?
