A new EU border
sir – With the division of Hans Island between Canada and Greenland (report, telegraph.co.uk, June 15), not only does Canada now have a new land border with a power other than the United States, but the European Union now has a land border between a G7 nation that is not a member of the EU, and an EU Overseas Country and Territory (OCT) that has association agreements with the EU single market.
It would be interesting to know what arrangements are to be set in place to protect the single market from rapacious Canadian capitalism, how much these differ from the arrangements for Northern Ireland, why, and what lessons the UK can take from this agreement.
