Lenny Henry’s Caribbean Britain
BBC Two, 9pm
The elder statesman of BBC broadcasters – and its first black star – brings together a host of famous faces, all with Caribbean heritage, to discuss the impact of Caribbean immigration on British music, theatre, art, food, humour and politics in this two-parter. This first part emphasises the irrepressible creativity and resolute joyfulness of those early immigrants, who faced down racist mobs on the streets of London and, with persistence, changed the country for the better.
Ireland: Coast and Country
More4, 9pm
This documentary takes an emerald-tinted look at Ireland. An underwater wildlife photographer snaps shots of wild dolphins in Liscannor Bay, but the highlight of the hour is a trio of elderly rock climbers whose age defying feats are set to some entertaining banter. A saccharine treat.
