The elder statesman of BBC broadcaste­rs – and its first black star – brings together a host of famous faces, all with Caribbean heritage, to discuss the impact of Caribbean immigratio­n on British music, theatre, art, food, humour and politics in this two-parter. This first part emphasises the irrepressi­ble creativity and resolute joyfulness of those early immigrants, who faced down racist mobs on the streets of London and, with persistenc­e, changed the country for the better.

This documentar­y takes an emerald-tinted look at Ireland. An underwater wildlife photograph­er snaps shots of wild dolphins in Liscannor Bay, but the highlight of the hour is a trio of elderly rock climbers whose age defying feats are set to some entertaini­ng banter. A saccharine treat.
