PARAMOUNT+ LAUNCH

Paramount+

- Jack Taylor

If you were worried there were already too many streaming services to choose from, Paramount+ has arrived to make watching TV even more confusing and expensive. The new service is available to Sky Cinema customers, and as a standalone product for £6.99 a month. It brings with it existing shows such as Yellowstone and American Rust, along with the acclaimed new Star Trek series Strange New Worlds

and a hefty catalogue of original programming.

The most eye-catching of their new series – a glossy adaptation of the video game series Halo – will no doubt be irresistible for anyone who grew up with an Xbox. It follows the exploits of the Master Chief (The Wire’s Pablo Schreiber), a super soldier from the future who beats up religious aliens – and it’s also airing on Channel 5 tonight at 10pm. More alien drama lands in

the form of The Man Who Fell to Earth, a sequel to the 1976 film starring David Bowie. This time, Chiwetel Ejiofor is the humanoid extraterrestrial. Also on, The First Lady stars Gillian Anderson, Michelle Pfeiffer and Viola Davis as three American first ladies: Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford and Michelle Obama. Badly plotted and dripping with milquetoast liberalism, it’s worth checking out for the cast alone.
