The home of BBC radio at Glastonbury, 6 Music’s festival coverage kicks off today with Lauren Laverne broadcasting live from Worthy Farm’s gates as they open, welcoming the first festival goers arriving, investigating new areas on the site and giving listeners a flavour of what’s to come with a Cloudbusting special featuring artists performing over the next few days and an extended cut of Pulp’s Pyramid Stage performance from 1995. Field reports and themed shows with Glastorelated content continue through the day, with Jamz Supernova picking up the live coverage for the action packed evening shift at 7pm.
All About Yves Radio 4, 11.30am
A documentary looking at the life, work and legacy of French artist Yves Klein who, according to the art historian James Fox, should be remembered for so much more than a beautiful shade of blue. Klein was a pioneer in the fields of performance and installation art, a bold conceptual artist well before conceptual art was born and a minimalist before that was conceived. With profundity and showmanship, his was a career as brilliant as it was short (he died 60 years ago this month, aged just 34). Despite this tragedy, argues Fox, the evidence of his enduring influence can be seen in every corner of the contemporary art world.
