BILL COSBY has been found liable for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at the Playboy Mansion in 1975.

Judy Huth, now 64, was awarded damages of $500,000 (£407,000) for emotional distress by a civil jury in Santa Monica, California.

Ms Huth said her long legal battle had been “torture”. She added: “This is such a big victory.”

Ms Huth had testified that the US comedian invited her and a 17-year-old friend to the mansion when he was 37.

She said they met in a park where Cosby was making a film and he gave them alcohol before taking them to the mansion, where he molested her.

Cosby, 84, who was once dubbed “America’s Dad” due to his role as Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show, which ran from 1984 to 1992, did not testify or appear in court.

He denies the allegations and his lawyers said he would appeal.

In 2018, he was convicted for indecently assaulting a female basketball coach in 2004 and jailed. But the conviction was thrown out last year and he was freed from prison.
