Star Wars toy tipped to break records at auction
A Star Wars toy is expected to sell for a world-record price of £300,000.
The plastic figure of Boba Fett, a bounty hunter, was a prototype made by manufacturer Kenner in 1979.
The 3.75 inch figure was one of about 100 made for safety testing of the firing mechanism of a red plastic missile before they could be sold. It was decided that only figures with sealed missiles should be massproduced, as the original design was a potential choking hazard for children.
It is being sold online by a private collector via Hake’s Auctions, Pennsylvania. Auctioneers believe the figure could sell for £300,000. The timed sale ends on July 27.
