Speeding ban for PCC who vowed to tackle bad drivers
A TORY police and crime commissioner who vowed to crack down on dangerous motorists has been banned from driving after being caught speeding five times within a 12-week period.
Caroline Henry, the elected PCC for Nottinghamshire, was caught breaking the 30mph limit in four locations in the county in March, May and June last year. Speed cameras recorded her blue Mercedes and her silver Lexus travelling at up to 40mph in the areas.
The 52-year-old, who was elected in May 2021 and earns £76,500 a year, was disqualified from driving for six months and given a £2,450 fine when she appeared before Nottingham magistrates’ court.
Speaking at a council meeting last month, Ms Henry told councillors: “As part of the next round of my community grants there will be an opportunity for people to bid in to do community speedwatch. I am absolutely committed to doing this.”
