Car park nest

SIR – Frank Bond was surprised by an oystercatcher nesting beside the road (Letters, July 18). At a Lake District golf club, we had an oystercatcher nesting in the car park. The nest was gravel and the sitting birds were hard to spot. We put cones round it as the birds sat on their eggs amid the traffic.
