MOD bans paying for prostitutes on deployment abroad
THE Ministry of Defence has introduced a blanket ban on paying for prostitutes while overseas.
Two new policies were announced yesterday that the department said would tackle unacceptable sexual behaviour in the Armed Forces.
A policy dictating zero-tolerance to sexual exploitation will prohibit all sexual activity involving abuse of power, including buying sex while abroad.
The policy will ensure that every allegation will be responded to, no matter where it takes place, and anyone found to be engaging in the targeted behaviours, including buying sex while deployed outside the UK, faces being discharged.
The second policy will be a zero tolerance to unacceptable sexual behaviour, which places greater emphasis on the support for victims, with any person behaving in a sexually unacceptable way facing discharge from the Armed Forces.
They will be complemented by a “Tackling Sexual Offending in Defence Strategy”, which the MOD said will prioritise victims and aims to reduce the prevalence and impact of sexual offending.
