Gay chaplain ‘hounded out’ of the Church
A homosexual Synod chaplain has been “hounded out” of the Church of England after giving a pro-pride speech, it has been claimed.
Andrew Hammond was chaplain to the General Synod until yesterday afternoon. At the Synod’s meeting last week, he spoke about Pride after a private member’s motion asked that the Pride flag be banned from Church buildings. A Synod member said Rev Hammond had been “hounded out” by conservative wings of the Church.
A Church of England spokesman said: “Members of General Synod were informed today that Andrew has offered his resignation, which has been accepted with regret.”
