Suits you, sir!

Tailoring makes the most of diminutive candidate

- Stephen Doig Men’s Style Editor

Rishi Sunak knows the power of a good suit. But alongside making him look sharp, polished and powerful – in contrast to the shambolic Boris Johnson – his tailor shapes his frame. Sunak is 5ft 7in, so his suiting is bespoke. Any tailor worth their salt can make the best of a client’s stature. Sunak’s suits are made at Henry Herbert and his shirts are by The Travelling Artisan. The cut is narrow and slender; a looser silhouette would drown him. Finer points about the jacket lend an appearance of length; the top button sits low on his torso, creating a long V shape and the lapels are narrow to elongate him. Some of his suits employ a roped shoulder, which means there’s a slight peak to make him appear broader.
